For many years, Mantec Technical Ceramics Ltd has been a key supplier of Ceramic Filtration Tubes to the Fertiliser Industry. This Case Study explains how the industry has benefited from the use of Mantec’s porous ceramic technology.
An overview of William Ransom Ltd
The company was founded over 160 years ago in 1846 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire by William Ransom. William was a Quaker philanthropist and most importantly for us, a botanist. A contemporary of Charles Darwin, was a highly influential figure in early research into the analysis of botanicals.
This crossflow microfiltration process, using Mantec’s patented star channel Star-Sep™ Ceramic Membranes, renders the filtered water bacterially inactive and free of NORMs, which means that it can be re-used within the process.
The installation of a Star-Sep™ Ceramic Membrane system was a critical, yet proportionally low-cost component of GlaxoSmithKline’s anti-biotic drug processing system, enabling a multi-million pound investment to be recouped within just 15 months.
